The Public Library of New London will be hosting a fundraising gala on Saturday, April 6 at the Consolidated Club at the Coast Guard Academy. The evening will feature music by the New London Big Band, as well as a presentation of the first ever Josie Esposito Award for a Friend of the Library.

• Live history as Kevin Johnson portrays an African American Civil War soldier in “The Life and Times of William The Community Foundation of Eastern Connecticut announces 18 grants made through the Connecticut Social Equity Council’s (SEC) Community Reinvestment Pilot Program, an initiative to reinvest revenues from the State’s new adult-cannabis industry in communities that have been disproportionately impacted by the “war on drugs.” In Eastern Connecticut, the SEC’s Disproportionately Impacted Areas (DIAs) of focus are New London, Norwich, and Willimantic/Windham.

The Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT Foundation recently awarded numerous grants to support 35 programs that address education, economic development, food insecurity, and essential needs in the region.
The mission of the Foundation, a 501(c)3 overseen by a volunteer board with support from the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern CT, is to enhance and enrich education and economic opportunities, especially for children and families, in Pfizer’s Groton Laboratories and the Clinical Research Unit, New Haven will support more than 60 programs in Southeastern Connecticut, the greater New Haven area, and southern Rhode Island through its 2019 competitive grants program.
Priority was given to programs that bring science and math to students from elementary through high school. Additional awards were made for programs that provide for the underserved or to support local civic and cultural institutions. Groups receiving support in 2019 The Lyman Allyn Art Museum will present its annual Summer Fest on June 22, 2019 from 11am – 4pm. Admission is FREE all day to the family-friendly community event featuring food trucks, live entertainment, and activities on Museum grounds and inside the Museum. In the event of rain, everything but the food trucks will move indoors to the Museum’s galleries, auditorium, and art/dance studio.
Summer Fest will feature the music of some of the region's great performers.
